Privacy policy

What we collect in the game

• Account: your e-mail address and your password. The password is stored only as an argon2id hash, so nobody, including us, can read it.
• Characters: the name and vocation you choose, and your progress: level, experience, skills, inventory, gold, equipment, quests, bestiary, health and mana.
• Account activity: when the account was created, your last login and when each character was last played.
• Connection data: your IP address, the game version and the language you play in. We use them to connect you to the servers, to limit abuse (for example, too many connections from one address) and in server logs.
• Chat: the messages you send in chat channels are delivered to the other players and are not saved.

We do not ask for your real name, address, phone number, date of birth or payment details.

What stays on your computer

The game saves on your computer your settings (volume, video, controls, language), the chat layout and, to make login easier, the e-mail of the last account used. It never saves your password. You can delete these files at any time.

This website

This website has no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no forms. Fonts, images and videos are served from the site itself. The site is hosted by Vercel, which, like any server, receives your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect against attacks.

The Steam and Discord buttons take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Why we use your data

• To provide the game (account, characters, progress, chat, connection to servers): this is necessary to perform the service you asked for.
• To keep the game safe and fair (abuse limits, logs, punishing cheating or rule breaking): our legitimate interest in protecting the players and the service.
• To comply with the law, when a competent authority requires it.

We do not use your data for advertising or to make automated decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the providers that run the service for us, and only what each one needs:

• Server hosting for the game servers and the database;
• Vercel for this website.

We may also disclose data when required by law or a court order. We never sell or rent personal data.

If you get Cryptward through Steam, Valve handles your Steam account under its own privacy policy. Today the game does not receive data from your Steam account; if that changes (for example, logging in with Steam or buying in the game), we will update this policy first.

Where your data is processed

Our providers may process data in Brazil, the United States and other countries. When data leaves your country, we rely on the safeguards the law allows, such as the providers’ standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

• Account and characters: while the account exists. When you delete it, we erase it within 30 days, including from backups.
• Login sessions: expire after 30 days.
• Server logs (which include IP addresses): up to 90 days, unless needed longer to investigate abuse.
• Chat: not stored.

We may keep information for longer when the law requires it or to resolve disputes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under Brazil’s LGPD or Europe’s GDPR), you can ask us to:

• confirm whether we process your data and give you a copy of it;
• correct data that is wrong;
• delete your account and your data;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• object to a use of your data;
• explain who we share your data with.

To exercise these rights, write to contact@tavernagames.com from the e-mail of your account, so we know the account is yours. We answer within 15 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Brazil, the ANPD).

Deleting your account

Write to contact@tavernagames.com from the e-mail of your account asking for its deletion. We delete the account and all its characters within 30 days and confirm by e-mail. Deletion cannot be undone.

Security

Passwords are stored with argon2id and login tokens are stored only as hashes. Access to the servers and the database is restricted. No system is completely secure: if a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

Cryptward is for players aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, play with the permission of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we will delete it. Parents can contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

When the game changes the data it uses, we update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will also announce it in the game or on our Discord before it takes effect.
